Absolutely. Creating analogies or metaphors is just another slippery mathematical exercise. Metaphors created seemingly make sense because we've somehow framed one situation within the structure of another. But most of the times, it's just an illusion and it's untrue.
Personally, I refrain from actively forming analogies in my head and stick to the ones which occur to me, which have been there all along and the pattern has arisen to now come to my notice. In other words, I borrow my metaphors from nature.
